제목: The Journey of Applying Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles in Eye Disease Treatment (나노파티클 이용 황반변성 치료)

초록: Cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeNPs) exhibit potent reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging capabilities, with a self-regenerating ability that ensures permanent autocatalytic activity. The properties of CeNPs can vary depending on their size, structure, and form of application, making the design of nanoparticles and their delivery platforms crucial for biomedical use. We developed CeNPs with diverse shapes and characteristics, either as standalone nanoparticles or integrated with biomaterials such as hydrogels and polymers, to assess their therapeutic potential in treating eye diseases associated with excessive ROS, including ocular surface disease and retinal degeneration. These CeNPs demonstrate strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, offering cytoprotective benefits that could aid in disease treatment, and are expected to produce synergistic effects when combined with other biomaterial platforms.
